I’m your host Sonaya Williams.

Launching is a whole process.

I usually say there are 12K steps between idea and the actual launch.  This is what most of our clients stress over.

Have you ever launched and felt like it was a waste of time?

I’m here to tell you that no launch is a waste of time or resources.  There are many positive impacts of launching like:

  • Audience Building
  • Testing Your Message
  • Testing Your Product
  • Testing Your Systems

You must launch the same product several times in order to optimize and see better results.

I like to think of launches in Phases:

  • 1st phase is Foundations – this is where you get all the things setup
  • 2nd phase is Leverage – this is where you are taking what you did last launch, make some tweaks to copy, images, or even systems.  To get better results.
  • 3rd phase is Scale – this is where you get to use what you’ve had previously and grow by upleveling your launch skill, assets, team, etc.

Before any product launch, there are many moving parts and lots of things happening. It’s hard to keep everything straight and there are bound to be at least some problems.

I am going to give you some common mistakes to avoid, to make your product launch go smoothly.

Not having a Product your audience wants

Many entrepreneurs pick or create a product because they think it’s something they can sell with ease, while failing to consider the needs of their customer base.

If your product doesn’t live up to the promise being marketed your product will not grow.

You’ll lose customers and possibly damage your reputation.

The core of any successful launch is a good product.  It is important to take the time upfront to create a product that meets your customers’ needs.

Not giving yourself enough time

Many people start planning just a few weeks before their launch and then find that either they haven’t allowed enough time for marketing and to get interest going, or they run into other troubles along the way.

You should start planning your launch well in advance 3 to 4 months in advance… even more if you have the time.

Depending on the size of the product, a minimum guideline is to start planning about two months ahead of the launch day.

Unclear messaging.

Who Are You Targeting?

Now you many have a good product but did you get clear on how to communicate its unique benefits to your ideal audience.

With such a crowded online market, why should a person buy yours? You need to clearly identify this and figure out how to communicate the unique benefits.

The messaging and targeting will be the biggest miss for many launch failures.  Now it does that work to test and tweak your message before you get it right.

Failure to Test

Finally, many entrepreneurs fail to test their products to gain feedback from their audience.

This feedback is objective data that tells you how your market really feels about your product.

It tells you what changes you need to make to your product or messaging, pricing, or delivery,  in order to make your launch a success.

Never be afraid to do a beta test or have a few of your previous clients for colleagues trial out the product before you go to market.

These are the common mistakes that we see clients make when launching.  Trust me there are many others that exist and do happen often. But if you can avoid these you’re got a good start.

One thing to remember is that NO launch is a true failure.  There are always lessons learned.  I encourage you to launch the same product multiple times so that you can optimize and make improvements to get the results you desire.
